TOP 300 – nº 294 – Robert Palmer – Bad case of loving you

O número 294 da lista das minhas 300 melhores canções pertence ao britânico (falecido em 2003) Robert Palmer. O seu maior êxito foi “Addicted to Love” que chegou ao topo dos Billboard 100 em 1986 e lhe trouxe um Grammy. “Johnny and Mary” e “Looking for Clues” tiveram grande êxito na Alemanha 6 anos antes. A canção aqui apresentada é de 1979, teve um êxito moderado nos EUA e na Inglaterra, mas é a minha favorita deste cantor.

Number 294 of my best 300 song list belongs to Robert Palmer, born in Great Britain and deceased in 2003. His biggest success was “Addicted to Love” which reached the top of Billboard 100 in 1986 and brought him a Grammy. Six years before he had great success in Germany with “Johnny and Mary” and “Looking for Clues”. The song here is from ’79, had a moderate success in the USA and Great Britain but is my favorite from this singer.

Die Nummer 294 meiner liebsten 300 Lieder gehört dem (2003 verstorbenen) engländer Robert Palmer. Sein grösster Hit war „Addicted to Love“ der es 1986 bis an die Spitze der Billboard 100 schaffte und ihm einen Grammy einbrachte. Sechs Jahre vorher war er mit „Johnny and Mary“ und „Looking for Clues“ in Deutschland sehr erfolgreich. Das hier vorgestellte Lied ist von 79, hatte einen mäßigen Erfolg in den Staaten und in England, ist aber mein bevorzugter Song dieses Sängers.

TOP 300 – nº 295 – Bee Gees – To love somebody

Com o nº 295 chega a vez de um dos meus grupos preferidos de sempre, os muito conhecidos Bee Gees. Talvez poucos saibam que este trio de irmãos ingleses começou a cantar já em 1958, mas em Austrália, pois ainda como um grupo de crianças, com idades compreendidas entre 9 e 12 anos. De volta à Inglaterra, a partir de 1966 com Spicks and Specks foi um nunca mais parar de sucessos. Vou falando aqui mais vezes sobre este grupo, como devem imaginar.

A canção aqui apresentada é de 1967 e foi o 2º single extraído do seu 1º álbum internacional. A melhor classificação nos charts foi um 6º lugar, na Austrália, e um respeitável nº 17 nos Billboard dos EUA.

O grupo nessa altura ainda se chamava The Bee Gees, na imagem de capa do single aparece, para além dos 3 irmãos Barry, Robin e Maurice Gibb o baterista Colin Petersen e o guitarrista Vince Melouney.

With nº 295 arrives one of my favorite groups of all times, the well known Bee Gees. Not much of you surely know that those 3 English brothers started to sing back in 58 in Australia, of course, as a child band, with ages between 9 and 12. Back to England, with Spicks and Specks in 1966 started a never ending line of successes. I’ll write more often about them, as you can imagine.

This song here is from 67 and was the 2º extracted single from their first international LP. The best chart classification was a 6^th place in Australia; in the USA they reached a respectable 17^th Billboard position.

At this time the group called themselves The Bee Gees, at the front of the single appears beside the 3 Gibb brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice the drummer Colin Petersen and the guitar player Vince Melouney.

Mit der Nº 295 kommt eine meiner liebsten Gruppen aller Zeiten, die Bee Gees. Wenige von euch wissen sicherlich das diese 3 englischen Brüder bereits seit 1958 zusammen singen, aber in Australien, natürlich als Kinderband, da sie zu der Zeit zwischen 9 und 12 Jahre alt waren. Zurück in England, ab 1966 mit Spicks and Specks startete eine nicht mehr aufhörende Liste von Erfolgen. Ihr könnt euch vorstellen das ich hier noch öfter über sie schreiben werde.

Dieser Titel ist von 1967 und war die zweite single von ihrer ersten internationalen LP. Die beste Einstufung  erreichten sie in Australien mit einem sechsten Platz, in den USA kamen sie zu einem respektablem 17 Rang in den Billboards.

Zu dieser Zeit nannten sie sich noch The Bee Gees, auf der single erscheinten, neben den 3 Brüdern Gibb (Barry, Robin und Maurice) noch Colin Petersen (Schlagzeug) und Vince Melouney (Gitarre).

O meu nº 296 calhou à uma canção dos Reamonn, um grupo alemão de Rock do final dos anos 90, e é das poucas nesta minha lista que são deste milénio. Tiveram um grande sucesso com “Supergirl” em 2000 na Alemanha, Áustria e Suíça, mas ficaram internacionalmente conhecidos com “Star” em 2003. Terminaram a sua actividade em 2010.

My nº 296 happened to be a song from Reamonn, a German Rock band from the end of the 90th, and is one of the view songs in this list from this millennium. They had a big success in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with “Supergirl” in the year 2000, but got internationally known with “Star” in 2003. They ended their existence in 2010.

Meine nº 296 ist von der ende der 90er Jahre gegründeten deutschen Rockband Reamonn und ist eine der wenigen Lieder in meiner Liste von diesem Jahrtausend. Sie hatten einen grossen Erfolg in Deutschland, Österreich und Schweiz mit „Supergirl“, wurden aber erst mit „Star“ im Internationalen Markt bekannt. Reamonn lösten sich im Jahre 2010 auf.

 

TOP 300 – nº 297 – Christie – San Bernadino

O nº 297 é uma canção que faz parte do meu imaginário deste sempre! Tinha eu 10 anos de idade quando esta melodia tocava muitas vezes no famoso autorádio do camião do meu pai, famoso, porque foi talvez daí onde despertei para a música anglo-saxónica, e porque era meu, e só meu ... claro, só quando andava nesse camião, o que acontecia bastantes vezes, nas férias da escola então quase diariamente! Vão ouvir falar ainda mais vezes aqui sobre esse autorádio.
Christie era um grupo de rock inglês fundado nos anos 60. Ficou conhecido primeiro com o seu grande sucesso ‘Yellow River’ de 1970 (nº 1 na Inglaterra), e no mesmo ano com a canção aqui apresentada que chegou a nº 1 também, mas na Alemanha. Como curiosidade, ninguém sabe ao certo o porquê do título da canção, já que, San Bernadino não existe, o que há, é San Bernardino que fica na Califórnia.

This nº 297 takes part of me like forever. I was only 10 when this song played many times in the famous car radio in my father’s truck, famous, because maybe by hearing songs from there my love of that kind of music was developed, and, it was mine, and only mine ... sure, only when I was in that truck, which happens many times, on school holidays almost every day! You’ll hear about this radio more often.
Christe was an English rock band founded in the 60th. They turned famous with their nº 1 hit in Britain ‘Yellow River’, the song I present here followed at the same year and reached nº 1 too, but in Germany. Strangely, nobody knows for sure why they choose San Bernadino because it doesn’t exist, there’s only a San Bernardino, in California.

Die nº 297 ist ein Lied das fast seit ewig in meinem Gedächtnis ist. Ich war 10 Jahre alt als dieser Song sehr oft im berühmten Autoradio des Lastwagens meines Vaters spielte, berühmt, weil ich wohl dadurch auf diese Art von Musik aufmerksam wurde und weil dieses Radio nur mir gehörte ... klar, nur wenn ich im Laster war, was sehr oft geschah, hauptsächlich in den Schulferien, da geschah es fast täglich! Ihr werdet noch oft hier von diesem Radio hören.

Christe war eine englische Rockband der 60er Jahre. Sie wurde durch ihren ersten grossen nº 1 Hit (Grossbritannien) bekannt, und auch durch den hier gezeigten Song der auch die nº 1 erreichte, aber in Deutschland. Komischerweise, San Bernadino gibt es nicht, was es gibt ist San Bernardino, und es liegt in Kalifornien.

O cantor e compositor espanhol nascido na ilha de Mallorca, Juan Pardo, lançou em 1981 a canção ‘No me hables’ que o fez conhecido fora das suas fronteiras, nomeadamente em países de línguas hispânicas, mas também na Alemanha onde chegou, no final desse ano, a um honroso 15º lugar.

The Spanish singer and composer born on Mallorca, Juan Pardo, released in 1981 the song ‘No me hables’ which made him known outside of Spain, mostly in Spanish spoken countries, but also in Germany where he peaked to a honorable 15º place.

Der Spanische Singer und Liedermacher geboren auf Mallorca, Juan Pardo, brachte 1981 das Lied ‚No me hables‘ auf den Markt das ihn auch ausserhalb Spaniens bekannter machte, hauptsächlich in spanisch sprechenden Länder, aber auch in Deutschland wo er bis auf Platz 15 hervorrückte.

TOP 300 - nº 299 - Matia Bazar - Ti Sento

Matia Bazar é um grupo de pop italiano formado em 1975 e existe até aos dias de hoje. ‘Ti sento’ foi o seu maior êxito e atingiu em 1986 o nº 1 na Itália e Alemanha e o nº 2 na Holanda. Não me recordo como cheguei a conhecer esta canção, devo tê-la ouvido na rádio. Pois, nem todas as canções que aqui apresento têm uma história pessoal por detrás, e esta, se a teve, não me lembro dela.

Matia Bazar is an Italian pop group, founded in 1975 and still exists today. ‘Ti sento’ was their biggest hit, reached in 1986 nº 1 in Italy and Germany and nº 2 in Holland. I don’t remember how I got to know this song, must have heart in on the radio. Well, not every song here got a personnel story behind, and if it had one, it’s got out of my memory.

Matia Bazar ist eine italienische pop Gruppe die 1975 gegründet wurde und existiert bis heute. ‚Ti sento‘ war ihr grösster Hit, erreichte 1986 die nº 1 in Italien und Deutschland und die nº 2 in den Niederlanden. Ich weiss wirklich nicht wie ich zu diesem Lied kam, habe es warscheinlich im Radio gehört. Ausserdem, nicht jedes Lied hat eine persönliche Geschichte hinter sich, und wenn es eine gegeben hat, ist sie aus meinem Gedächtnis verschwunden.

Nº 300 - Robin Gibb - Another lonely Night in New York

- Como diz um provérbio chinês, todas as viagens começam com o primeiro passo! Assim é esta minha nova rubrica, a das 300 melhores músicas da minha preferência pessoal. O que não disse na primeira explicação é que a grande maioria dessas músicas são antigas, do século passado, uma espécie de M80, portanto.

Para começar, um grande senhor da música internacional, infelizmente já desaparecido. Robin Gibb faz parte dos famosos irmãos Gibb, mais conhecidos por Bee Gees. Penso que poucos de vocês sabem que ele também se aventurava numa carreira a solo. A mais conhecida é sem dúvida “Juliet”, mas eu prefiro esta aqui apresentada. Pois, por uma qualquer razão, comprei o single (em vinil) nas primeiras semanas da minha vinda a Portugal em 83, fazendo desta forma parte íntegra dos meus tempos iniciais neste país.

For this first edition, a big name in the international music scene, unfortunately already diseased. Robin Gibb is one of the famous Gibb brothers, better known as the Bee Gees. I guess that most of you don’t know that he had a solo career. Sure, the best known music is “Juliet”, but I like this one most. Well, for some kind of reason, I bought the single (in vinyl) in the first weeks when I came to Portugal, and so, it‘s part of my first times here in this country.

- Wie sagt ein chinesisches Sprichwort, jede Reise beginnt mit dem ersten Schritt! So auch diese neue Rubrik wo ich meine liebsten 300 Lieder vorstelle. Was ich vorher nicht sagte ist das die meisten vom letzten Jahrhundert sind, also eine art von M80 (ein portugisischer Radiosender der Lieder der 70er, 80er und 90er Jahre spielt).

Zu Beginn, ein sehr bekannter Herr der internationalen Musikszene, leider schon verstorben. Robin Gibb ist einer der Gebrüder Gibb, besser bekannt als Bee Gees. Ich glaube dass die meisten von euch nicht wissen das er auch eine Solokarriere hatte. Das meisbekannte Lied ist natürlich „Juliet“, aber dieses hier mag ich besser. Aus irgendeinem Grund kaufte ich die Schallplatte als single in den ersten Wochen meines Portugalaufenthaltes, und so gehört es fest zu den ersten Zeiten in diesem Land.
